Chanakya was a prominent Indian philosopher, economist, and statesman who lived during the 4th century B.C.
He is also known by the name Kautilya.
A master advisor
Chanakya went on to become the chief advisor of Chandragupta Maurya and was instrumental in helping him gain the reign of Magadh.
He also guided him in defeating the armies of Alexander the Great.
The Mauryan Empire went on to become one of the most powerful empires of its times.
Literary works
Chanakya wrote and compiled two famous books which are considered as the masterpieces on political science and economics in India.
Arthashastra deals with statecraft, economic policy and military strategy.
It describes duties and obligations of a king, nature of govt, laws, ethics, economics, markets and trade, diplomacy, war strategies etc.
The Chanakya Niti discusses wisdom, virtues and the guidelines to manage one’s life.
