Hello kids!!!
Here is an activity for you today.
Put your hand✋ on the upper left side of your chest and feel. Do you feel a thump or a lub-lub, lub-dub sound?👂🏻 Well, that’s your heart beating in your chest.
The heart❤ is one of the most important organs in your body. The heart is like a big pump made of muscles, and it constantly pumps blood throughout our bodies every minute of every day.
The movements of the heart are called ‘involuntary’ which means you don’t actually have to think💭 about making your heartbeat. It keeps beating on its own.
When blood leaves the heart it gets taken on a journey through arteries. It makes sure that our blood reaches the right place at the right time.👍
The blood gets back to the heart through veins. If you look at your wrists, you’ll probably be able to see veins which look blue from the outside. You will not be able to see an artery because it is deep inside your skin.🤷♀
Most people think their heart is on the left side👈 of their chest. However, the heart is actually located in the center of the chest in between the lungs. The tip of the heart❤ is closer to the left, that’s why you feel it beating on your left.
Fun facts
