What comes to your mind, when you think of Brazil? The Mecca of Soccer, Samba dance. Do you know Brazil also houses one of the ‘New 7 Wonders of the world’? It’s called Christ The Redeemer.
It is a giant statue situated on the top of the Corcovado Mountain. It is the symbol of Rio de Janeiro (one of the large cities of Brazil) and is also known as Christo Redentor, which means Christ statue of RIO DE JANEIRO.
Constructed between 1922 and 1931, it is 98 feet tall and 62 feet wide. This makes it the 5th largest statue of Jesus in the whole world. It took nine years and $250 million in construction of the statue.

👉 Initial sketch of the Christ the redeemer was one hand holding globe and other holding a Christian cross.
👉 Because of its height, it gets stuck by the lightning at least three times a month.

👉 The statue was carried in pieces and erected on the top of the mountain. Imagine how strong and brave were those worker who went out in cold to erect the statue.
