When you think of birds,🕊 you probably think of the small, charming birds chirping in your backyard, or flying in the sky. The ostrich, though, is bigger than your dad!😲 Ostriches are the largest birds.
Ostriches live in the African savannah. (Globe🌍 time!!! Look for Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Congo, etc.) They eat seeds, plants, and grain. They also munch on insects🦗 and small animals.
Though they eat such tiny things,😁 they can grow 9 feet tall and weigh over 159 kgs. That’s around one and half times taller than the average man,🙄 and the weight of two men combined!
They can’t fly, but they’re fast runners.🏃♂ They can run up to 70 km per hour for short periods. *Most of the time, they run at around *48 km per hour. You can get fined by traffic policeman👮♀ for driving your car faster than this.
This brilliant bird’s strong legs are effective in self-defense. Each of its toe is armed with a sharp claw. If an ostrich feels threatened, it will kick with a force powerful enough to kill.☠
