red fort

The Independence Day🇮🇳 is near and you will see the Prime Minister delivering the speech from the Red Fort on this day. But before getting there, let’s learn🤓 some interesting things about the Red Fort.

The Red Fort (Lal Qila) is a historical fort in New Delhi, the national capital of India.👌 The fort was constructed by Shah Jahan (the same guy who built the Taj Mahal) when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi.😇

The Fort was named Red Fort because of the high enclosing walls constructed in red sandstone.👍 The fort is still recognized by its Red walls.🙂

Kohinoor was once a part of this fort. The royal throne was studded with precious stones and gold flaunting the world’s most famous diamond – Koh-i-noor.💎

Fun Facts

👉 The Red Fort was originally white since part of it was made from Limestone!😬 When the Limestone started chipping off, the building was painted red by the British.

👉 Before being called the Red Fort, it was called Qila-e-Mubarak.😍
