What comes to your mind when you hear the word bat?π€ Some would say scary, some might say creepy and some might even say Batman! Letβs know which animal it is.
Batsπ¦ are the only mammals that are able to fly. Mammals are those animals which produce milk to feed their children.
Bats are nocturnal animals which mean they are active at night.π They have wings which are made up of skin stretched between extremely thin fingers.
There are more than 1000 species of bats and they can be found worldwide,π except for the Polar Regions and extreme desert. They fall into two groups: megabats and microbats.
Most megabats are fruit-eaters,π while most microbats eat insects. Some bats drink nectar and eat pollen, a few suck blood (of animals only), and some eat larger prey, such as, lizards,π¦ frogs, and fish.
Fun Facts

π Bats communicate with each other in high-pitched sounds, which humans cannot even hear.
π Guano, or bat droppings are one of the richest fertilizers. Their droppings were also used to make gunpowder.
