The name Kerala is derived from the word “Keram” which means Coconut tree in Malayalam, the regional language of Kerala. Kerala is abundant with coconut trees, so naturally it came to be called ‘Keralam’ which translates into ‘land of coconut’.

Kathakali and Mohiniyattam are two of the most famous dance forms in Kerala. The makeup in Kathakali holds a lot of importance as they depict different characters.
